From the Brampton Guardian, comes an environmental assessment notice from GO Transit for the study of expansion of the Credit River CNR bridge to two tracks. This is the location of one of the most restrictive bottlenecks of the Georgetown line, where a 528 meter long, approximately 40 meter high bridge spans the mighty Credit river.

.. the execution of this expansion, in my opinion, is crucial for the introduction of all-day Georgetown service, or continued expansion westward to Guelph/Kitchener.

Join the citizens of Guelph as we celebrate our founder, John Galt Day on Monday August 4th by the River Run Centre in Guelph. This is located beside the Guelph Junction Railway and as a result there are railway related activities on-site.

The Guelph Historical Railway Association is playing a role in the festivities, our 1941 Canadian Pacific Railway wooden caboose (436994) is now on-site and will be on display for the weekend.

On Monday, the GHRA will be hosting handcar rides on the main and siding track just north of the River Run, using Handcars supplied by the Palmerston Railway Museum, who will also have a table on site.

The Locomotive 6167 restoration committee will also have a display, and all groups will have some souveneirs and items for sale.

There will be plenty of other groups participating, with activities and fun for all ages. Best of all, it’s all free! Hours of operation on Monday is 11AM to 4 PM.
