Source: Guelph Tribune, Jan 27 edition.  Please say it ain’t so? Let’s hope Kitchener-Waterloo politicians are dealing with Go Transit properly and are receptive to the idea of GO service. As well, GO Transit will do their part to study the potential market in Kitchener. It is well known in local Railroading circles the biggest problem to ‘upgrades’ west to Kitchener are the required repairs to the Breslau Grand River bridge, which has a limiting 10 MPH speed limit for all trains. To upgrade this bridge for faster traffic, millions of dollars would need to be spent.

What about the Federal Governments new budget for infrastructure funding? Surely this would qualify…

Various news agencies have reported on the new Metrolinx plan for the Georgetown Corridor. The high level overview of what the plan entails is as follows:

• New airport rail link is back on track
• All day express service from Bramalea
• All day regular train service from Georgetown
• All day regular train service from Bradford
• Peak service expansion to Guelph (Kitchener-Waterloo is NOT mentioned)
• Peak service expansion to Bolton

As is expected, Guelph is still featured prominently in the latest news releases. However, the fact remains, why is Kitchener-Waterloo not mentioned? Perhaps I should have called this site goguelph.org..
